The music for a funeral Mass at St. Louis Bertrand is beautiful, solemn, and reverent, drawing upon the treasury of exquisite Gregorian melodies from the Church's traditional Requiem Mass, including the Requiem aeternam entrance chant (from which this liturgy draws its name), the familiar melodies of the Sanctus and Agnus Dei, and the beautiful In paradisum chant. Psalm 23 is sung during the Liturgy of the Word, as well as the familiar mode 6 Alleluia, and the soloist sings Schubert's beloved Ave Maria as well as the Pie Jesu from Fauré's Requiem. We strongly encourage the use of the chants from the traditional Requiem Mass, as outlined above. However, some families may wish to include one or two hymns in English. Here are a few to consider:
— Abide with Me
— Be Still, My Soul
— Be Thou My Vision
— Jerusalem, My Happy Home
— Nearer, My God, to Thee
— Praise to the Holiest in the Height
