This week,
there is no shortage of tributes to the late Richard
John Neuhaus. A priest of the Archdiocese of New York
and founder of First
Things, Neuhaus helped
thousands to make sense of the competing claims of
religion, politics, and culture. Time Magazine, in
1995, named him one of the 25 Most Influential
Evangelicals in America.
In May of 2006, Fr. Neuhaus delivered the
Commencement Address at the Dominican House of
Studies. This "honorary Dominican" spoke eloquently
on the Dominican charism and the importance in
today's world of "thinking faith" and "faithful
thinking." The fulltext can be found
here, and is well worth a
read.
May this good and faithful servant rest peacefully in
the arms of his Savior.
