Saint Louis Bertrand is a parish in old Louisville under the direction of the Dominican Friars, Province of Saint Joseph, and in communion with the Archdiocese, serving people from all parts of the metropolitan area. What characterizes St. Louis Bertrand Parish is the partnership of the Dominican Friars who have been assigned there and the dedicated laity who have been members of the parish throughout its 142 year history. The parish was established in 1866 and the present-day English Gothic Church was dedicated in 1873. MISSION STATEMENT Saint Louis Bertrand Parish is a welcoming and open congregation imbued with the vision of Saint Dominic and endowed with the spirit that comes from dedication to the traditional practices of the Church in the light of the Second Vatican Council. We see ourselves to be accessible to our parishioners and friends by reason of our full schedule of Masses and Confessions, the availability of the Sacraments and a wide range of parish activities. Centered in the Word of God, we commit ourselves to continue the spiritual growth of all who attend, to evangelize through teaching and sharing our faith, and to serve the needs of the poor and the oppressed in our area.
